privacy policy
the short version: we collect your name and email when you give them to us, we use them to tell you about events, we don't sell them, and you can leave the list anytime. the details follow.
1. who we are
on sabatical™ ("we," "us") is a wellness event series operated by saba bokhari llc d/b/a on sabatical, based in bergen county, new jersey. this policy explains what information we collect through this website and at our events, and what we do with it. questions: hello@onsabatical.com
2. what we collect
information you give us directly:
mailing list: your first name, last name, and email address when you join the list.
rsvps + tickets: your name, email, and any details you provide at registration or checkout (such as dietary notes or accessibility needs). payments are processed by our ticketing and payment providers — we never see or store your full card number.
emails to us: whatever you include when you write to us.
information collected automatically:
our website is hosted on squarespace, which uses cookies and collects standard technical data (such as ip address, browser type, and pages visited) to make the site function and to give us basic, aggregate analytics — how many people visited, not a dossier on you. you can manage cookies through the banner or your browser settings.
at events:
check-in: your name and email to confirm attendance, and your signed liability waiver.
photography: events are professionally photographed and filmed; images may include you. you can opt out of identifiable photos at check-in — see our terms & conditions for how that works.
3. what we use it for
to send you event announcements, ticket releases, and occasional updates (mailing list)
to manage rsvps, tickets, transfers, and check-in
to respond when you contact us
to accommodate needs you've told us about (dietary, accessibility, health notes) — used only for that event, shared only with the people who need them to take care of you
to market on sabatical™, using event photography as described in our terms
to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used
we do not sell your personal information. we do not share your contact details with sponsors or partner brands — if a partner offer is ever worth your inbox, it will come from us, not them.
4. who we share it with (service providers)
we use a small number of services to run this business, and your data passes through them as part of normal operation: squarespace (website hosting + forms), our email service provider (mailing list delivery), our ticketing platform (registration + payments), and our payment processors. each handles your data under its own privacy policy. we share only what each service needs to do its job, and nothing more.
we may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of attendees and staff.
5. how long we keep it
mailing list data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
event records (registrations, signed waivers): for as long as reasonably needed for legal and insurance purposes.
6. your choices
unsubscribe from the mailing list anytime via the link in any email — it takes effect promptly, no questions, no guilt trip.
access or delete: email hello@onsabatical.com and we'll tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it (except records we're required to keep, like signed waivers).
photos: opt out of identifiable photography at check-in; if a published image of you slips through, email us and we'll make reasonable efforts to take it down.
cookies: manage via the cookie banner or your browser.
7. children
our website and events are intended for adults 18 and over. we do not knowingly collect information from children. if you believe a minor has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
8. security
we rely on reputable providers (squarespace, sweatpals, and payment platforms) that maintain industry-standard security, and we limit who can access your information. no system is perfect, but we keep the footprint small on purpose: we collect little, so there's little to lose.
9. changes to this policy
if we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date above. material changes will be flagged to the mailing list.
